HI there
I’m not a English native speaker and I need to write this short essay for next week. It is yet to be completed but it’d be great if you could help me telling me already which mistake I have made.

Thanks!!

"
I have been asked to analyze two different documents, which are an extract by the Committee for Factories and an extract by the Earl of Shaftesbury. In my short essay I am going to talk about the two sources and the historical time they refer to.
The two documents are related to one another. The first one, evidence taken by the Committee for Factories in 1833, is about a family composed by husband, wife and three daughters. Altough the daughters are really young, they all work in a “worsted mill” for long hours and little money. The situation apprears dreadful. This document is dated 1833, the year of the Factory Act, enacted after the unsustainable working condition in which kids, women and men had to work. That act announced the prohibition to work in night time and the prohibition for kids to work too many hours in order to give them the chance to go to school.
T(he second extract is dated 1868 and is…….)
The Industrial Revolution bagan in the English region of Midlands and developed later to the all Great Britaion nation, spme part of Europe and the United States in the 19th century. Before introducing of steam power, the power that nature could offer to the man was the only resource used by him. Sun, animals and wind were some of these natural resources. When we talk about the Industrial Revolution we talk also about urbanization: Workers moved from the countryside to the city; Cities broadened out of all proportion in order to host the workers who wanted to work inthe newly built factories. The nature of production was one of the immediate changes of this revolution which means that what workers were producing, where and how were completely new stuff for the people. The Industrial Revolution also wholly changed the economy and the society. Technology is one of the fundamental elements of this revolution, too.
After reading these two documents I had the sensation to have read an article of any current newspaper. We still read those kinds of interviews. The only difference is the location. In Europe, we are lucky not to have anymore those working situations. We do know though that in some parts of Asia and Africa, people are still exploited and are still working ridicolous amount of hours for very little money. I cannot say that those people are living the Industrial Revolution we had in our country but I assume that they are likely to be living the same disastrous working condition some people used to live in Europe more than two hundreds years ago.

How could I rebut these points that the opposition might say?

Because our coal/oil reserves are running out.
Also Coal is no considered a dirty fuel with high carbon emissions which is dangerous to the environment.
Renewable alternatives such as Wind Farms take up lots land or come at a great expense if out at sea.
A single kilogram of uranium can produce more energy than 200 barrels of oil..
France are currently producing over 85% of their electricity using nuclear energy. They have so much they even sell alot of their surplus power to the UK and Italy.
Nuclear power generation does emit relatively low amounts of carbon dioxide (CO2). The emissions of green house gases and therefore the contribution of nuclear power plants to global warming is therefore relatively little.
This technology is readily available, it does not have to be developed first.
It is possible to generate a high amount of electrical energy in one single plant.

Why can’t we all see that our freedom has been taken away. Why do we have to be in a monetary based economy where the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer and the dumb gets dumber. And then we read articles, watch on the news, complain about having to work 9-5, crime, war, discrimination, global warming and so on.

If only people knew that there are technology out there RIGHT NOW which are environmentally friendly and use natural abundant resources such as tidal, wind, wave, geothermal power and not scarce resources which give out CO2 emissions such as oil, gas and electricity, then why aren’t the government doing anything about this? The whole of UK can be powered by tidal waves. In fact, we don’t have to use anything to contaminate the environment. So then why aren’t the government doing anything about it? Surely they must know this? Is it because we’re so entrapped in this monetary system where by enforcing these technology, the government won’t make a profit, hence the banks losing out? Illuminati? Free Masons? World domination?? or just plain stupidity?

OK so some may argue, technology will leave people jobless and I don’t blame you because in the economy right now, we are partly brainwashed to think that no money = no future/power/respect/life. So correct me if I’m wrong, the main reason that drives crime is money (more like the lack of it)? But on the other hand, if technology is to take over all jobs once belonged to human, then everyone will be equal by not having a job, demolishing this system where everything is around money. There’ll be less crime because there’ll be "less" incentives for once poor or deprived people to steal/murder/etc. Innovative technology will also bring solutions to problems in society in which we now deal with by enforcing laws.(FREEDOM???)

In order for there to be peace, equality and freedom, we need to open our eyes and act as one.

Is it just me, or are there other people out there that think the way I do and believe that this world can get better if only there was no money system.

Visit:

www.thevenusproject.com
First of all, thank you for your comments.

It is interesting to see how most people think that society can never change. The social values of our society, which has manifested in perpetual warfare, corruption, oppressive laws, social stratification, irrelevant superstitions, environmental destruction, and a despotic, socially different, profit oriented, ruling class, is fundamentally the result of a collective ignorance, of two of the most basic insights humans can have about reality… the EMERGENT and SYBIOTIC aspects of natural law.

The Emergent nature of reality, is that all systems, whether it is knowledge, society, technology, philosophy, or any other creation, will, when uninhibited, undergo fluid, perpetual change. What we consider commonplace today, such modern communication and transportation, would have been unimaginable in ancient times.
Likewise, the future will contain technologies, realizations and social structures, that we cannot even fathom in the present.
We have gone from Alchemy, to chemistry…from a geocentric universe, to a heliocentric…from believing that demons where the cause of illness, to modern medicine. This development shows no sign of ending, and it is this awareness that aligns us and leads us on a continuous path to growth and progress. Static, Empirical knowledge does not exist…rather it is the insight of the emergence of all systems, we must recognize. So doesn’t this mean we must be open to new information at all times, even if it threatens our current belief system and hence, identities?
Sadly, society today has ‘obviously’ failed to recognize this and the established institutions continue to paralyze growth, by preserving outdated social structures. At the same time, the population suffers from a fear of change as well, for their conditioning assumes a static identity, and challenging ones belief system, usually results in insult and apprehension, for being wrong is erroneously associated with failure (me)
So, no TAT I am not 12 and yes we do have the choice to succeed. The questions is, what is success to you? Because this tendency of yours (not just TATs but the majority of those who think it "will forever remain the same power" -[Lara] and [Lynn C] who is a good example of the point here) to blindly hold on to a belief system, sheltering it from new, possibly transforming information, is nothing less than a form of "intellectual materialism".
The monetary system perpetuates this materialism not only by its self preserving structures, but also through the countless number of people who have been conditioned into blindly, and thoughtlessly upholding these structures, therefore becoming ‘self-appointed guardians of the status quo". Sheep, which no longer need a sheep dog to control them, for they control each other by ostracizing those who step out of the norm.
In the 1940s, the Manhattan Project produced the first true weapon of mass destruction. This program employed 130,000 people at an extreme financial cost.

Image what our life would be like today, if that group of scientists instead of working on a way of killing people, worked on a way to create a self sustaining, abundant world. Life today, would be very very different, if that was their goal.

Instead of weapons of mass destruction…It is time to unleash something much more powerful… Weapons of Mass Creation. Our true divinity is our ability to create, and armed with the understanding of the Symbiotic connections of life, while being guided by the emergent nature of reality, there is nothing we cannot do or accomplish.

Of course, we face strong barriers, in the form of established power structures that refuse to change.
At the heart of these structures is the monetary system. As explained earlier, the fractional reserve policy is a form of slavery through debt, where it is literally impossible for society to be free. In turn, free market capitalism in the form of free trade, uses debt to imprison the world and manipulate countries into subservience to a handful of large business and political powers. Apart form these obvious amoralities; the system itself is based on competition, which immediately destroys the possibility of large-scale collaborations for the common good, hence paralyzing any attempt at true global sustainability.

These financial and corporate structures are now obsolete and they must be outgrown.

Of course, we cannot be naïve enough to think that the business and financial elite are going to subscribe to this idea, for they will lose power and control.
Therefore, peaceful. Yet highly strategic action must be taken. The most powerful course of action is simple. We have to alter our behavior to force the power structure to the will of the people.

We must stop supporting the system.

The only way the establishment will change, is by our refusal to participate,
…while continuously acknowledging it endless flaws and corruptions.

As of now, the world financial system is on the brink of collapse, due to its own shortcomings. The comptroller of currency stated in 2003 that the interest on the US national debt will not be affordable in less than 10 years. This theoretically means total bankruptcy for the US economy. And it’s implications for the world, are immense.
In turn, the fractional reserve based monetary system is reaching its theoretical limits of expansion and the banking failures you are seeing are just the beginning. This is why inflation is skyrocketing, all debt is at record levels and the government and fed are hemorrhaging new money to bail out the corrupt system. For, the only way to keep the banks going is by making more money… the only way to make more money is to create more debt and inflation. It is simply a matter of time before the tables turn and there is no one willing to take new loans, while defaults grow, as people are unable to afford their current loans. Then the expansion of money will stop and contraction will begin on a scale never before seen, ending a century long, pyramid scheme. Which I think has already begun. No?

I don’t personally practise Feng Qi or believe in it. I do practise Tai Chi for relaxation, fitness and martial arts reasons.

If Qi is indeed scientific phenomenom that includes solar wind, magnetic fields and radiation then you could say it exists.

The placement of furniture in the home that influences a person’s luck and wealth; is only a small part of Feng Shui. It is largely Earth geography and anstromy and how Qi (pronounced "chi"), the ‘life force energy’. Chi as in Tai Chi is spelt differently and has a different meaning "greatness" but the two are often confused. Tai Qi incorporates the use of Qi. A traditional explanation of Qi as it relates to Feng Shui would include the orientation of a structure, its age, and its interaction with the surrounding environment including the local microclimates, the slope of the land, vegetation, and soil quality. Qi can be split into two forms Ying and Yang that are equal and opposite forces that cannot exist without each other and are constantly acting against each other to give natural balance. There is now proof that Qi energy exists and has been dismissed by the NHS.

The really interesting thing about Feng Shui is reputable scientists have found a strong link in space weather, solar energy and Earth’s magnetic fields that have a profound effect on modern technologies including GPS, power lines, pipelines, elctronic devices and communications. There is some evidence that suicide rates in Kirovsk, Russia, fluctuate along with the geomagnetic field. Atmospheric scientists have suggested that space weather creates fluctuations in market prices. The New Age movement has very little to do with Feng Shui. According to researcher Stephen L. Field, one use for a Luopan is to detect the flow of qi. Professor Max Knoll suggested in a 1951 lecture that qi is a form of solar radiation.
Does anyone think that the war in iraq would be an evelasting wound on the consience of the world?
.The world is in many wars far more dangeroue than it was at the height of the cold war.its really a shame that with all the (USA)military might and modern war technology its has failed to defeat such a rag tag army called the insurgents.l feel ashame comparing the gulf war(1990) nthis present oil war because their was a clear cut reason and justification for that war and it was so well mapped out that the US army didnt suffer the kind of casualty we have in iraq now ..l have no qualms hunting down this terrorist and murderers(islamic fundermenatlist). but the truth need 2 be told.G.W. B is just evoking the fear of terrorism to enhance HIS EXECUTIVE POWERS is double speak has been breathtakingly shamelss. He his not fit to be a leader, his emergence has cast a darkshadow worldw

London, April 9 (ANI): A solar-powered oven made from cardboard is the 50,000-pound winner of a contest to find the world's greenest invention.

The invention bagged the FT Climate Change Challenge crown after beating 300 other creations, including a food additive, which stops cows passing wind.

Kenya-based entrepreneur Jon Bohmer a Norwegian, set up Kyoto Energy with his Kenyan wife Neema, and has used his own money to fund the project.

The oven – which costs just 3.50 pounds to make – can slowly cook casseroles, boil water and bake bread.

It is made from two boxes, one inside the other with an acrylic cover, which lets the sun's power in and traps it.

Black paint on the inner box and silver foil on the outer help concentrate the heat while a layer of straw or newspaper between the two provides insulation.

Bohmer hopes that the oven would put an end to the use of firewood to cook in developing countries.

"We're saving lives and saving trees. I doubt if there is any other technology that can make so much impact for so little money," Sky News quoted Bohmer as saying.

He plans to use the prize money to conduct mass trials in 10 countries, including South Africa, India and Indonesia and gather data to back an application for carbon credits. (ANI)

The following is an article reprinted from the Sydney Morning Herald, entitled "50 things you would never know if it weren't for the screen".

If staying in a haunted house, women should investigate any strange noises wearing their most revealing underwear.

If being chased through town, you can usually take cover in a passing St. Patrick's day parade – at any time of the year.

All beds have special L-shaped top sheets that reach up to the armpit level on the woman but only to the waist of the man lying beside her.

All grocery bags contain at least one French stick.

It's easy for anyone to land a plane, provided there is someone in the control tower to talk you down.

Once applied, lipstick will never rub off – even while scuba diving.

The ventilation system of any building is a perfect hiding place. No-one will think of looking there, and you can travel to any other part of the building without difficulty.

You're likely to survive any battle in any war unless you make the mistake of showing someone your sweetheart back home.

Should you wish to pass yourself off as a German officer, it will not be necessary to speak the language. A German accent will do.

The Eiffel Tower can be seen from any window in any building in Paris.

People on TV never finish their drinks.

A man will show no pain while taking the most ferocious beating, but will wince when a woman tries to clean his wounds.

The chief of police is always black.

When paying for a taxi, never look at your wallet as you take out a note – just grab one at random and hand it over. It will always be the exact fare.

If you lose a hand, it will cause the stump of your hand to grow by 6 inches.

Kitchens don't have light switches. When entering a kitchen at night, you should open the fridge door and use that light instead.

During all police investigations, it will be necessary to visit a strip club at least once.

Mothers routinely cook eggs, bacon, and waffles for their family, even though the husband and children never have time to eat them.

Cars and trucks that crash will almost always burst into flames.

Wearing a singlet or stripping to the waist can make a man invulnerable to bullets.

A single match can light up a room the size of a football stadium.

If a killer is lurking in your house, it's easy to find him. Just relax and run a bath – even if it's the middle of the afternoon.

Medieval peasants had perfect teeth.

Although in the 20th century it is possible to fire weapons at an object out of visual range, people in the 23rd century will have lost this technology.

All single women have a cat.

Any person waking from a nightmare will sit bolt upright and pant.

Even when driving down a perfectly straight road, it is necessary to turn the steering wheel vigorously from left to right every few moments.

One man shooting at 20 men has a better chance of killing them all than 20 men firing at one.

Creepy music coming from a graveyard should always be closely investigated.

If a phone line is a broken, communication can be restored by frantically beating the cradle and saying, "Hello? Hello?"

Most people keep a scrapbook of newspaper cuttings – especially if any of their friends or family have died in a strange boating accident.

It does not matter if you are heavily outnumbered in a fight involving martial arts – your enemies will wait patiently to attack you one by one by dancing around in a threatening manner until you have knocked out their predecessor.

During a very emotional confrontation, instead of looking at the person you are speaking to, it is customary to stand behind them and talk to their back.

When you turn out the light to go to bed, everything in your room will still be clearly visible, just slightly bluish.

Dogs always know who's bad and will naturally bark at them.

Police departments give their officers personality tests to make sure they are deliberately assigned a partner who is their total opposite.

When they are alone, all foreigners prefer to speak English to each other.

Action heroes never face charges for manslaughter or criminal damage despite laying entire cities to waste.

No matter how badly a spaceship is attacked, its internal gravity system is never damaged.

If there is a deranged killer on the loose, this will coincide with a thunderstorm that has brought down all the power and phone lines in the vicinity.

You can always find a chainsaw whenever you are likely to need one.

Rather than wasting bullets, megalomaniacs prefer to kill their arch-enemies using complicated machinery involving fuses, pulley systems, deadly gases, lasers and man-eating sharks that will allow their captives at least 20 minutes to escape.

Having a job of any kind will make fathers forget their son's eighth birthday.

Many musical instruments – especially wind instruments and accordions – can be played without moving the fingers.

All bombs are fitted with electronic timing devices with large red readouts so you know exactly when they're going to go off.

It is always possible to park directly in front of the building you are visiting.

Guns are like disposable razors – if you run out of bullets, throw it away. You can always buy a new one.

Make-up can safely be worn to bed without smudging.

A detective can only solve a case once he has been suspended from duty.

If you decide to start dancing in the street, everyone you bump in to will know all the steps.
